    The world of Naruto has a canonized system of elements, which we use here at Ninja Village Rebirth. There are of course the five basic elements; water, fire, earth, wind, and lightning.

    Element Guide Chart

    As you can see from the above picture as well, each element has a weakness, and one that it excels against. Water beats fire, fire beats wind, wind beats lightning, lightning beats earth, and earth beats water. There appropriate release names are;

    *Suiton - Water
    *Katon - Fire
    *Fuuton - Wind
    *Raiton - Lightning
    *Doton - Earth

    Now, there are also a variety of Kekkei Genkai releases. This is the result of a bloodline ability that requires the mixing of two or more natures. Below are the canon mixed elements and how they are made.

    Ice Release (氷遁, Hyōton) is created by simultaneously combining the Water and Wind natures.
    Wood Release (木遁, Mokuton) is created by simultaneously combining the Earth and Water natures.
    Lava Release (熔遁; 溶遁, Yōton) is created by simultaneously combining the Fire and Earth natures.
    Storm Release (嵐遁, Ranton) is created by simultaneously combining the Lightning and Water natures.
    Boil Release (沸遁, Futton) is created by simultaneously combining the Water and Fire natures.
    Explosion (Blast) Release (爆遁, Bakuton) is made of the Earth and Lightning natures.
    Scorch Release (灼遁, Shakuton) is created by simultaneously combining the Fire and Wind natures.
    Magnet Release (磁遁, Jiton) is created by simultaneously combining the Wind and Earth natures.

    There are also four elements that have been featured in the anime and the movies, so they are technically canon. They are not fully understood, and thus are incomplete in what makes them. These are;

    Used in the anime, Crystal Release (晶遁, Shōton) is suggested to be made of at least the Earth nature.
    Used in Gaara Hiden and Naruto Shippūden the Movie: The Will of Fire, Steel Release (鋼遁, Kōton)
    Used in Naruto Shippūden the Movie: The Will of Fire, Dark Release (冥遁, Meiton)
    Used in Naruto Shippūden the Movie: The Will of Fire, Swift Release (迅遁, Jinton)

    Every shinobi has a natural elemental affinity. As they progress in rank they may learn how to manipulate additional element styles or focus their current element to gain extra abilities within that affinity. Though not every ninja needs to know or use his/her element, they do have the opportunity to do so.

    Academy Student - Academy Students have 1 elemental affinity.
    Genin - Genin do not gain an additional elemental affinity.
    Chunin/D rank - Do not gain an additional elemental affinity.
    Tokubetsu Jounin/C rank - Do not gain an additional elemental affinity.
    Jounin/ANBU/B rank - Gain an additional elemental affinity bringing the total up to 2 elemental affinities.
    Elite Jounin/ANBU Captain/A rank - Do not gain an additional elemental affinity.
    Legendary Ninja/Kage/S rank - Gain an additional elemental affinity bringing the total up to 3 elemental affinities.
