The Soshi clan has existed prior to the creation of the ninja villages and has lurked in the shadows of history for many years. Before the formation of any sort of ninja clan, the Soshi acted as specialist in creating illusions for entertainment or battle purposes. It is believed that the Soshi clan were greatly talented Genjutsu users, but what they become better known for comes later on in their history. For many years the Soshi assisted different tribes with their Illusionary magic until many years later they were approached by a new form of tribe, a clan.
At first there was tension between the early Soshi tribe and the clan that had recently occupied their land. This clan was known as the Herukasai, who had the ability to manipulate fire to their will. Eventually, the two found common ground when they discovered that the Soshi tribe used the same sort of 'power' that the Herukasai used, chakra. The Herukasai joined the Soshi tribe and became one unified mass which after much debate was called the Soshi Clan.
The Soshi clan became a group of illusionist but soon as the two bloodlines began to mix their ability to manipulate fire disappeared. The mixture of the two bloodlines genetically made it impossible for bloodline members of the Soshi clan to use not only just fire, but elemental chakra all together. However, they still had the ability to manipulate chakra and make illusions so they went back to being solely genjutsuist, and some more devoted clansman became taijutsuist.
Years pass, and the Soshi clan continue to flourish as genjutsu and taijutsuists. They come across the land where the modern day village of Sunakagure is now located. It is then that the Soshi clan gets involved with the great ninja war, and learn how badly they need elemental chakra manipulation. That was when the oldest, wisest, and most powerful Soshi members stepped forward.
Ryuuk Soshi for many years studied how chakra worked, and when their clan joined with the other clans that would unite to form Sunakagure his library of books from which he could research grew exponentially. Through his research he was able to find a way to endow an element to an inanimate object. During the war however, he presented the idea as a weapon for only Soshi clan members.
Despite his best intentions, the weapons he created ended up in the wrong hands and could be seen once in a while in use on the battle field. Seeing the faulty in his creation, Ryuuk came up with a solution, redesign the weapons and have it so that they need to be summoned through a scroll. Not only were the weapons sealed in different scrolls but the scrolls were sealed so that only people who made the contract and had the Soshi blood in them could use it.
Even though Ryuuk believed he had the elemental weapons problem fixed, more complaints came in. The scrolls would either become destroyed, lost, or stolen for their secrets. Ryuuk had to redesign the whole elemental weapon system all over again. Instead of one scroll per weapon, Ryuuk made a single scroll, which could have multiple contractors. This scroll became the very foundation to Ryuuks creation, the Soshi Buki.
Any Soshi clan member who has a contract with this scroll can summon any elemental weapon of their choice. The first elemental weapon they choose becomes there only elemental weapon until they become substantially stronger (rank to rank). Ryuuk gave it other safety measures, such as a time limit between the weapon leaving the Soshi clan members hands. With the Soshi Buki perfected, the Soshi clan could finally be a match for the many warring shinobi during the great ninja war. They battled along side all the great heroes of the war and in the end, despite many losses, the Soshi clan survived and stayed in Sunakagure.
Presently the Soshi clan still resides in Sunakagure. Since the war had ended, members of the Soshi clan stopped signing the contract for the Soshi Buki. Their belief being that the scrolls should only be signed in times of war. However, the choice is given to their young shinobi whether or not they want to make a contract with it, and use it to their advantage. The clan isn't huge, but it's by no means small either. It consists of about 13 families ranging in size. The origins are older than the the great ninja war itself, thus the clan's history can be viewed in the library owned by the current clan elder Ryuuk.
Members of the Soshi clan have no marks on their bodies or special birth marks. However, once they make a contract with the Soshi Buki their eyes become black. It is only when the Soshi clan member summons a Soshi Buki that they gain an eye color depending on the element. When the Soshi Buki is dismissed their eye color returned to black. Soshi members WHO DID NOT sign the contract to get a Soshi Buki have normal eyes.

Kekkai Genkai/Hidden Technique Description:
Members of the Soshi Clan are not gifted with a natural element. When they are born they will never be able to manipulate elemental chakra like normal shinobi. Instead, most of the clan relies heavily upon using chakra manipulation. However, members of the clan created a way to manipulate elemental chakra through summoning weapons which are endowed with a certain element and can become an extension to the users body. These weapon/extensions are called Soshi Buki (Element Weapon). Each member of the Soshi clan, upon reaching Genin rank, are given a choice whether or not to except a contract with one of these weapons or to continue focusing on chakra manipulation and Genjutsu. The Soshi Buki can be a variety of different weapons depending on the user and the first element they receive.
Members of the Soshi clan are able to have four Soshi Buki with four different elements. Members of the Soshi clan get a new Soshi Buki every rank up, starting at Genin and moving up to Chunin, Jounin, and then Kage/Legendary/Sanin.

When ever a Soshi Buki is summoned they gain an aura of their particularly summoned element at the time. For example, if a person is a wind user, they will have a breezy wind around them. For water, they will have an aura of dampness and moisture. Ice would be cold. Fire/Lava is an aura of warmth. Magnet would have a light magnetic field. Lightning/Storm would have a light electrical field around them. Etc.
The leader of the clan has a unique fourth Soshi Buki. Instead of a fourth element, they are granted the weapon known as the Genji Glove. It allows the user to wield ANY other persons Soshi Buki, and use its chakra element for any of the clan leaders jutsu. Their eyes and Aura become that of the element of which ever Soshi Buki they're holding. However, even when they have more than one Soshi Buki, they can only summon one at a time. Also, the Soshi Buki disappears within five seconds of it leaving the users hands. Users of the Soshi Buki must also use single handed hand signs in order to us jutsu with the Soshi Buki, making them slower.
Despite the many advantages of the Soshi Buki, it also has many downfalls. If the weapon is out of the hands of the user for more than five seconds then the user will have to re-summon it and the user casts jutsu slower than average ninja.
Unique Elements:
Light Release - Hiton, or Light Release, is a rare form of release that the Soshi can achieve. This allows the user to manipulate and control the light spectrum. Members that choose this release can manifest various mirages to alter enemy perceptions without genjutsu. (Owner's permission required to have.)

Soshi Bunshin no Jutsu (Element Clone Technique)

Description: This jutsu is unique to any Soshi clan member, and is the same as a shadow clone. The difference is that whenever a member changes their element, the clone does not. If the user is using wind, the clone is a wind clone. If the user switches his element to water, the clone is still a wind clone. The same applies with all other combinations of elements.
Soshi Kireme (Element Cut)

Description: This jutsu is unique to any Soshi clan member with a bladed weapon/polearm. This jutsu, when no element is available, is just a slicing chakra wave that can bite into rock or flesh. However, when a wielder is using their Soshi Buki They are able to infuse the element into the slash, augmenting the effect as follows:
Water (Suiton)/Ice (Hyouton) - Causes the removal of limbs by having the water fly at high power to cause both knock back and cutting.
Fire (Katon)/Lava (Yoton) - Increased heat, causing the jutsu to work like a hot knife, melting through thick metals that normally would be immune to cutting force, cauterizing wounds and destroying tissue when attacking people.
Wind (Fuuton)/ Swift (Jinton)/Magnet (Jiton) - Extreme slicing, able to sever limbs.
earth (Doton)/Wood (Mokuton) - The jutsu loses its cutting power, and instead travels through the ground, causing a rupturing fissure.
Lightning (Raiton)/Storm (Ranton) - The cutting edge takes on a piercing effect, plowing through defenses puncturing walls and people alike.
Darkness (Meiton) - Instead of a cutting blade it absorbs anything in it's path.
Light (Hiton) - Able to make the blade take on any of the other Kireme traits.
Dust (Jinton)/ Blast (Bakuton) - Slicing beams that also explode.
Steal (Kōton) - Slicing, physical, metal blades burst forth from the slice instead of intangible energy.
Soshi Tama (Element Ball)

Description: The non elemental variant is a compressed ball of chakra that can be thrown at someone. It causes pain/damage, scaling in size as well as causing an explosion equal to three explosive tags. When a Soshi Buki is active the effects are:
Water (Suiton) - The Sphere is able to trap and cling, causing a catalyst for other jutsu. It will also immobilize a person if it connects to their face (suffocation), and can slow the movement of joints.
Ice (Hyouton) - Will cause targeted areas to freeze solid.
Fire (Katon) - The fire sphere ignites all things flammable, as well as erupts upon contact causing the fire to burst, spreading the flames.
Lava (Yoton) - Sphere of lava, melts through almost anything.
Wind (Fuuton) - The sphere becomes a spiraling/cutting force that if used close up sct like thrusting spiraling knifes into someone/thing. If thrown long distance, the sphere grows, losing the edges but growing in force, turning into a blasting gust
Swift(Jinton) - The sphere becomes a spiraling force that if used close up act like a fist sized bullet into someone/thing. If thrown long distance, the sphere grows, turning into a large dome AoE, all at massive high speeds.
Magnet (Jiton) - The sphere attracts all things metal. This jutsu is a sphere of magnetic force, and is often a catalyst jutsu, or a way to attract metal on your opponent elsewhere. If it hits non magnetized metal, that metal will become magnetized. The magnetism can be altered to both attract and repel.
Earth (Doton) - The sphere takes on a mud form and acts much like expanding foam, slowly crawling over the target and binding them.
Wood (Mokuton) - The sphere acts as a seed that bursts into bloom when hitting the target, causing massive vines and roots to grapple and bind. The vines and roots continue to toughen and grow as it leeches chakra from its victim to support itself.
Lightning (Raiton)/Storm (Ranton) - This sphere is able to paralyze limbs, damage nerves, and blow people back, with electrocution.
Darkness (Meiton) - Absorbs chakra. If still in users hands, can absorb stolen chakra into user. If thrown, and hits target, chakra is still drained (though not kept as user is separated). If coming in contact with a jutsu, chakra is absorbed and both attacks negated variant to user level. (Genin - C, Chunin/Tok - B, Jounin/Elite - A, Kage/legendary - S)
Light (Hiton) - Classic tama, only it is either invisible, or can appear as if hundreds are being thrown. Other variants exist based upon custom user preference, with light being so unique.
Dust (Jinton)/ Blast (Bakuton) - The sphere is equivalent to dynamite exploding.
Steel (Kōton) - Any shape/size/augmented form that when comes in contact, explodes like a grenade, sending shrapnel as well as concussive force to contend with.
Soshi Aura (Element Aura)

Description: This jutsu is an elemental burst from the body on an extreme level. The users aura will flicker into sight and then burst from the body, causing any thing that is not the user to be effected by the users element and propelled away. The force from the burst is equivalent to a medium explosion. The element is based on what ever Soshi Buki the wielder is currently in possession of.
Buki Suicchi (Weapon switch)

Description: A jutsu that was thought to be impossible. This jutsu allows the user to switch his Soshi Bukis with a single hand seal. This jutsu is a skill and thus does not take chakra. Only the most skilled Soshi are able to perform such a feat.
